The cover picture illustrates schematically the results of calculations showing an effect of a donor charge made of the lead azide (LA) on the acceptor high explosive charge. One can see that the droplets of lead formed in the LA detonation products arrive to the acceptor charge later than the leading shock impacts it. Thus the lead droplets do not contribute to the detonation initiation of the acceptor charge. A simpler explanation is proposed for the superior triggering capacity of lead azide. Details are discussed in the article by Boris Khasainov et al. on page 547 (DOI: 10.1002/prep. 201600075).
