Trinitrophenyl C 60 derivative was synthesized by allowing C 60 to react with trinitrochlorobenzene and sodium azide. This fullerene derivative would first provide a brillant prospect in the energetic materials. The product structure was identified by FD‐MS, UV‐VIS, IR and 13 C‐NMR.
