Charge‐transfer complexes have been prepared with 2‐methyl‐1,3,6,8‐tetranitronaphthalene ( I ) as electron acceptor and various 9‐substituted anthracenes as electron donor. The electron affinity of ( I ) has been determined as 1.12 ± 0.07 eV, and the energy of activation for conduction in the complexes studied lie in the range 0.27 eV–0.74 eV.
