Abstract In studies on the Rotter machine on the initiation of grit‐contaminated explosives by impact one can make use of the variable θ = 100 (F−F min )/F max where F = figure of insensitiveness. A virtually linear relationship then exists between the grit content (C %) and the reciprocal (or logarithm) of θ.
