Abnormal activation of the sympathetic nervous system can induce cardiac hypertrophy and ultimately heart failure. To shed lights into the downstream effectors of the earlier stages of pathological hypertrophy, mice were treated for seven days with isoproterenol and cardiomyocytes isolated from hypertrophic hearts were studied by proteomics. Potential earlier markers for heart failure and therapeutic targets are reported.
