The vital role of proteases in the progression of various diseases has been increasingly recognized. Proteolytically generated proteoforms are secreted into body fluids, such as blood, urine, and cerebrospinal fluid which enables their utilisation in biomarker discovery. Degradomic methodologies can be applied for the initial identification and validation of clinically relevant biomarkers, which could be used for monitoring of disease development, progression and therapeutic response. This is reported by Marija Grozdani ć, Robert Vidmar, Matej Vizovićek, and Marko Fonovi ć in article 1800138.
