This work presents the research in progress for my doctorate in information science at Humboldt‐Universität zu Berlin. This research investigates practices for evaluating qualitative research in information science in the context of academic peer review for journals and conferences. The main goals are to identify how information science reviewers conceive of the quality of qualitative research, what practices they employ in evaluating qualitative research, what shapes these approaches, and what role standardization plays in this context.
