In this paper we describe indexer agreement and disagreement on the application of appeal descriptors on adult fiction. The appeal descriptors developed by Ebsco NoveList were used for the testing. The analysis found that about 1/3 of the appeal descriptors were of high use, but indexer inconsistency was generally high for those descriptors. In contrast, only a very small number of descriptors were of high use and at the same time of higher indexer consistency.
