This poster presents preliminary findings from a study focused on information seeking behaviors and everyday information practices of new immigrants who have settled in the Denver, Colorado metro area. Language was used as an inclusion criterion to recruit immigrants from three linguistic communities (Amharic speaking, Spanish speaking, and Russian speaking) to participate in the study. The study employed photovoice to gather data about participants' information seeking practices. First, the participants were asked to take pictures of the sources of information that they use in everyday life. In a follow‐up interview, participants explained the context within which each of the pictures were taken. The findings of the study indicate that the information seeking behaviors of new immigrants is bilingual shifting frequently from a native language to English depending on the source and type of information. Many new immigrants prefer information in their native language.
