This poster highlights a work‐in‐progress prototype of a geographic information system (GIS4SCA‐RL) to map rural libraries' community engagement with external stakeholders in the Southern and Central Appalachian (SCA) region. It presents a prototype visualization platform for the audience to apply its pilot framework/design for visually representing their own community‐based information research in a geo‐spatial context. The GIS4SCA‐RL informs a globally networked information society of the efforts of SCA rural libraries via multi‐media, web‐based hyperlinked collections visually integrated to generate greater impact/relevance in the 21 st century.
