Scanning tunneling microscopy performed after annealing treatments of CdSe colloidal semiconductor nanocrystals capped with long alkylphosphonate ligands and short chloride ligands allows observing intra‐ as well as inter‐particle ripening processes. High‐resolution X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy allows correlating the intra‐particle ripening process to the desorption process of chloride species.
