Au nanocrystals are grown on the tips of CdS x Se 1−x (x = 0–1) anisotropic semiconductor nanocrystals . The growth mechanism is investigated. The influence of the S:Se ratio in tuning the excited‐state properties of Au/CdS x Se 1−x anisotropic nanocrystals and its influence on the photocurrent response and hydrogen production rate are discussed.
