In their Progress Report on page 1223, J. Li, X. Shi, and M. Shen report on the recent advances in hydrothermally synthesized iron oxide nanoparticles for magnetic resonance (MR) imaging applications. The hydrothermally synthesized nanoparticles can be easily surface‐functionalized to have desirable effects for biomedical MR or dual mode MR/computed tomography imaging applications.
