A novel NIR and SWIR optically responsive nanostructured complex in the form of a Au isleted chalcogenide substrate is reported. The optical response is directly related to the plasmonic coupling islets that decorate the surface of the chalcogenide substrate and environmental refractive index dynamics due to the inclusion of the substrate.
