The application PERMAKART of the glaciological information system KRYO on ARC/INFO plots supposed mountain permafrost distribution on any topographical map. Results of fieldwork since 1970 and surface analyses based on a digital terrain model (DTM) are used. In Switzerland PERMAKART could become a planning tool for decisions about possible occurrence of mountain permafrost because the DTM RIMINI is available for the entire country.
