1,3‐Di‐ tert ‐butylimidazol‐2‐ylidene initiates the anionic chain‐growth polymerization of methyl sorbate (MS) in toluene. The polymerization is accelerated by an aluminum Lewis acid to afford cyclic poly(MS)s. Subsequently, thiol‐ene click reactions of poly(MS)s with alkanethiols are performed to obtain graft‐like polymers, and the chains can be observed by transmittance electron microscope. This observation, made by Akinori Takasu and colleagues in their article on page 2936, proves that the polymers synthesized by their synthetic strategy are indeed cyclic polymers.
