New silicon‐comprising ionic polymers are synthesized by free radical polymerization of trimethylsilylmethyl substituted ionic monomers. Selection of bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide as anion results in an ionic liquid, although the monomer with p‐styrene sulfonate as anion appears solid. Details are found in the article by Veronika Strehmel and Pia Kaestner on page 977. The tacky polymers exhibiting either a polycation and mobile anions or a polyanion and mobile cations are interesting for applications in interlayer, adhesive, and membrane manufacturing.
