Divinyldimethylsilane ( 1 ), divinyldiphenylsilane ( 2 ), divinyltetramethyldisiloxane ( 3 ) and divinyltetraethoxydisiloxane ( 4 ) in the presence of [{RuCl 2 (CO) 3 } 2 ] ( I ) as a catalyst undergo effective silylative coupling (SC) polycondensation giving stereoselectively trans ‐tactic polymers ( 5 – 8 ) ( M w =3800–8500), yield 75–84%. The products isolated and characterized by 1 H and 13 C NMR and GPC methods cannot be synthesized via ADMET polymerization. Copyright © 2003 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
