The dissociation p K values of picric acid, tetrabutylammonium picrate, bromide and hydroxide and tetramethylammonium hydroxide in some 2‐methylpropan‐2‐ol–cosolvent mixtures were determined and correlated with the Taft and Kamlet solvatochromic parameters π*, δ, α and β. The results show the most important solvent properties that affect electrolyte dissociation are polarity, polarizability and hydrogen bond acidity. These results were confirmed by analysis of published literature data.
