1 H, 13 C, and 15 N NMR studies, including the use of the 13 C NMR deuterium perturbation method, showed that the interaction between naphthalene or its methylated derivatives and the nitrosonium cation result in the formation of π‐complexes. The chemical behaviour of these complexes was investigated; in particular, their ability to be converted into binaphthyl derivatives was established.
