The carbocation Et 3 SiCH 2 C + Ph(CHCHPh) has been found to be stable at room temperature with tetrakis(pentafluorophenyl)borate as the anion and benzene as the solvent. The cation constitutes the first stable β‐silyl carbocation in which positive charge is delocalized both allylically and benzylically. Copyright © 2002 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
