Older persons with mental illness are vulnerable to the prescribing cascade and the risks of exposure to adverse effects. This is not an uncommon occurrence and this case highlights that it is imperative that prescribers should endeavour to use an holistic approach to treating patients while considering the possibility of unintended consequences that may result from treatment.
