More money The government has announced £48 million in funding for research as part of the Biomedical Catalyst initiative, operated jointly by the Medical Research Council and the Technology Strategy Board to support academic research and small and medium enterprises with innovative solutions to health care challenges. Projects benefiting from the new money include a blood test that could be used to assist the diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease and a new gene therapy for Parkinson's disease.
