Primary polydipsia affects a significant proportion of patients with chronic schizophrenia and is associated with the use of conventional antipsychotics and acute relapse. This case report describes a man with treatment‐resistant paranoid schizophrenia who developed hyponatraemia as a consequence of drinking copious volumes of water following his admission to hospital due to an acute relapse of schizophrenia.
