The European Medicines Agency (EMA) has approved a licence extension for zonisamide (Zonegran) as monotherapy for the treatment of partial seizures (with or without secondary generalisation) in adults with newly diagnosed epilepsy. It was previously licensed as adjunctive therapy for adults. The EMA is now considering an application to license zonisamide for children six years old and over.
