Asenapine was launched in the UK early in 2012 for the treatment of acute mania in bipolar I disorder, but do psychiatrists need another atypical antipsychotic? This was the question posed by Dr Luiz Dratcu, Consultant Psychiatrist at the Maudsley Hospital, South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, speaking at a satellite meeting organised by Lundbeck Ltd during the 11th Latest Advances in Psychiatry Symposium XI held in London in March.
