About a third of patients with Parkinson's disease show clinically significant symptoms of depression, which often emerge before the motor symptoms and the risk persists throughout the course of the disease. Recent studies indicate that depression in Parkinson's disease is as treatable as it is in the general population and shed more light on its optimal management.
