A novel Y‐type polyurethane containing 4‐(5‐nitro‐2‐thiazolylazo)resorcinoxy groups as nonlinear optical chromophores exhibited second harmonic generation coefficient ( d 33 ) of 3.78 pm V −1 at 1064 nm fundamental wavelength with second harmonic generation thermal stability up to 130 °C, which is acceptable for nonlinear optical device applications.
