By alkylation, the catalytic activity of 1‐(4‐pyridyl)piperazine‐bearing polymethacrylates is improved. The catalytic efficiency of polymer‐attached 4‐(dimethylamino)pyridine (4‐ DMAP ) analogues correlates remarkably well with the NMR chemical shifts of their β ‐pyridyl protons.
