The kinetics of decomposition of [PVA. Mn VI O 4 2 ‐] intermediate complex have been studied spectrophotometrically. A first‐order dependence on the intermediate concentration was observed. The decomposition rate was found to be base‐catalysed. The kinetic parameters have been evaluated and a mechanism consistent with the results obtained is discussed.
