The free radical copolymerization of acrylamide with hexyl methacrylate has been carried out in dimethyl formamide at 60°C by using 2,2′‐azobis‐isobutyronitrile. The copolymer composition was determined from the nitrogen estimation. Reactivity ratios were calculated by the Fineman‐Ross and Kelen‐Tüdos methods. The copolymers were characterized by IR, 1 H‐NMR, 13 C‐NMR and dielectric studies. Molecular weights of the copolymers were of the order of 10 5 .
