New highly crystalline ureido‐containing monomers were simply prepared from α ‐aminocaprolactam and 2‐isocyanatoethyl (meth)acrylate and polymerized radically. The resulting homopolymers are semi‐crystalline and strongly aggregate, showing upper critical solution temperature behaviour in ethanol–water. Radically synthesized copolymers with hydrophilic N , N ‐dimethylacrylamide show lower critical solution temperature behaviour in water. At a certain molecular weight, physical networks of copolymer are formed in water.
