Control of biocompatibility and biodegradability of polyhydroxyalkanoate ( PHA ) biomaterials was achieved through the modification of surface hydrophobicity using poly(ethylene glycol) ( PEG ). PHA / PEG composite films showed increased cellular adhesion, proliferation and health, dependent upon PEG loading.
