Model composites consisting of glass beads dispersed in a matrix of nylon 6 with different degrees of interfacial adhesion were prepared. The effects of interfacial adhesion on damage generation in the glass bead filled nylon 6 were studied by acoustic emission monitoring and scanning electron microscopy, and the critical damage stress was measured. Improvement of the interfacial adhesion enhanced the tensile strength of the composite. The melt rheological behaviour of the glass bead filled nylon 6 was also investigated. It was found that the interfacial adhesion strength significantly affected the rheological behaviour of the glass bead filled nylon 6.
