Methacrylic ester copolymers were synthesized in various compositions with the aim of studying the kinetics of the copolymerization reaction. Nuclear magnetic resonance was used not only to investigate the kinetic behavior but also to monitor the reaction course. Copolymers were synthesized in the NMR tube allowing data acquisition in real time. Reactivity ratios for methyl methacrylate and octadecyl methacrylate were obtained.
