Vertical cavity surface‐emitting lasers (VCSEL) are getting more and more popular for 3D sensing and time‐of‐flight technology in consumer and automotive applications. VCSEL arrays with hundreds of single emitters are often used. Measurement of the radiant intensity distribution is the key to performing a proper eye safety assessment and designing suitable secondary optics for these emitters.
