The French 4F consortium has obtained new results on microstructured optical fibers for the development of ytterbium active fibers with a large core and for the transport of intense laser beams via hollow‐core photonic crystal fibers. In the case of active fibers, several methods to obtain fiber preforms have been tested (MCVD, OVD, powders, sol‐gel), as well as various types of fiber designs.
