Resonant waveguide gratings (RWGs) have been developed by various international groups for over 35 years now and have been successfully implemented in many different laser sources (gas, disk, fiber, rod, microchip, or diode lasers). These devices offer high versatility in their application and high efficiency in reflection, transmission or diffraction. RWGs can withstand power and energy levels as required in modern laser sources and applications.
