Bars made from graphite reinforced resin were impact loaded and foil strain gages were used to determine the characteristics of the stress wave as it propagated along the length of the specimen. Assuming one dimensional wave theory to be valid, values for the dynamic moduli were determined and these were compared to static values obtained from beam in bending tests for the same bars. The amount of damping of the graphite composites was also determined.
