A new recording system for a torsion pendulum is described. By its use data on the internal loss and shear modulus of a polymeric material can be obtained quickly and easily in digital form, rather, than the more usual graphical form. The system is simple and easy to operate, is rugged and is inexpensive relative to other systems. The precision available is excellent. An application of the instrument in the determination of the crystallinity of polypropylene is described.
