Abstract Two new polymaleimides containing allyl groups in their backbone were synthesized and characterized. The synthesis of these polymaleimides was carried out by reacting allyl polyamine with maleic anhydride. The monomers were characterized by infrared spectroscopy (IR), 13 C‐NMP, and elemental analysis. Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) of monomers showed that the presence of allyl groups reduces the curing temperature. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) revealed that all polymers were stable up to 400°C in air or 500°C in nitrogen atmosphere. Their char yield at 800°C under anaerobic conditions was 58–61%.
