Collection of increment cores in high elevation larch trees in the Briançon region, France (appr. elevation 2200 m). Escobar‐Sandoval et al. used these increment cores and the corresponding tree‐ring data to estimate individual tree response to inter‐annual temperature variation (phenotypic plasticity) and to demonstrate that larch reaction was completely different between the top and the bottom of its elevation distribution.
