The lives of people with diabetes may be revolutionised by an explosion of new product developments and launches. These emerging technologies include new continuous blood glucose monitoring, innovative insulin delivery techniques and novel data and decision support mechanisms that could improve HbA 1c levels. In addition, to potentially decreasing the time spent either in hypoglycaemia or hyperglycaemia, these new technologies also have the potential to improve a patient's quality of life as well as to reduce the burden of self‐management.
