Type 2 diabetes in the young: why we should worry

In recent years, however, type 2 diabetes has become increasingly common in children, adolescents and young adults, particularly associated with obesity and in ethnic minority groups. In this article we discuss the rising prevalence of young type 2 diabetes and the mounting evidence for poor outcomes in this group. We also highlight the need for evidence-based strategies to optimally manage these high-risk patients.
