What's already known about this topic? The double bubble sign is strongly indicative of duodenal obstruction. Patients with duodenal obstruction are high risk of other anomalies, especially trisomy 21. What does this study add? A much lower percentage of associated malformations in fetuses with double bubble was found. No other chromosomal anomalies or submicroscopic pathogenic aberrations excepting trisomy 21 were found in fetuses with double bubble. Noninvasive prenatal testing may be recommended for genetic evaluation of the etiology of fetal double bubble.
