What's already known about this topic? Inhibin A levels are considerably higher in the second trimester maternal serum of smokers compared with nonsmokers.What does this study add? This is the first study to compare the levels of inhibin A in the first trimester maternal serum of smokers and nonsmokers. Inhibin A levels are increased in the first trimester maternal serum of smokers, but to less of an extent than is found in the second trimester.
