Abstract The Ca 2+ ‐binding protein calmodulin has been purified to homogeneity from cell suspension cultures of Catharanthus roseus by high performance liquid chromatography and two isoforms have been detected by SDS‐PAGE and non‐denaturing PAGE. The methodologies employed in the isolation, purification, assay and physicochemical characterization of the protein are discussed, and the differences between C. roseus calmodulin and spinach calmodulin are described.
