The proton and carbon‐13 nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectra of swainsonine, ( 1S,2R,8R,8R,8aR )‐1,2,8‐trihydroxyoctahydroindolizine, isolated from the seeds of Astragalus oxyphysus A. Gray, have been reassigned through the use of two‐dimensional NMR techniques. Unambiguous NMR spectral data have also been determined for swainsonine 1,2,8‐triacetate.
