The composite coating with glycine modified SiO 2 used as the fillers was prepared in this study. The methods of glycine modify SiO 2 were discussed, the modified results were characterized by FTIR, XRD, XPS, and TEM. The results of the comparison among the coating filled with SiO 2 modified by different methods indicated that glycine grafted could enhance the compatibility between the polyester solvent and the SiO 2 particles. The curing speed of the coating was not changed, the insulation performances were enhanced and the mechanical properties were not affected by the glycine modified, and the mechanism of the enhancement was the reunite of the particles was reduced and the wettability against polyester was enhanced.
