An advanced silver‐doped poly( o ‐anisidine) molybdophosphate (POA‐MoP/Ag) nanocomposite was synthesized by chemical sol–gel method. The study on the thermal effect of conductivity was also done on POA‐MoP/Ag after acid treatment. The dc conductivity was found within the range of 8.12 × 10 −3 S cm −1 for HCl doped, measured by four‐in‐line–probe dc electrical conductivity measuring technique. Isothermal conductivity is stable with all temperatures showing excellent stability of POA‐MoP/Ag material. An electrochemical sensor based on the electrocatalytic activity of composite for sensitive detection of paracetamol (PCM) was studies. The electrochemical behaviors of PCM on POA‐MoP/Ag modified carbon fiber electrodes (CFE) was investigated by DC potential amperometry. A redox process of PCM at the modified electrode was obtained. Such electrocatalytic behavior of POA‐MoP/Ag is attributed to its unique physical and chemical properties, e.g., subtle electronic characteristics, attractive π–π interaction, and strong adsorptive capability. This electrochemical sensor shows an excellent performance for detecting PCM with a detection limit of 8 µM, a response time of 20 s, and a satisfied recovery. We have investigated the composite properties of the self‐assembled electrodes for biological compounds analysis and show that the POA‐MoP/Ag composite biosensor can achieve great sensitivity without significant biomaterial. The sensor shows promise for simple, sensitive, and quantitative detection and screening of PCM. POLYM. COMPOS., 38:E237–E245, 2017. © 2016 Society of Plastics Engineers
